I do like the Color Challenge…took my out of my comfort zone, but I like

how it turned out!

As you read this…I will be out-of-town again, to pick up more plants for the Garden

Club’s Annual Plant Sale…When last up there, they told us that the items we were looking

for, would be there by Saturday! So away we go!

Yesterday was re-potting all that we bought…

…and then another repotting of those items! Some time next week.

If we only get a few items…then the Committee head and I will repot what we bring

back…if it is a car load…then we will call the troops in for the repotting again!

Because of all this ‘Spring Stuff’…Mr. Hubster and I decided to get our deck ready for

container gardening too! We bought a trough looking bench to grow some of our salad

veggies…We then had to put it together…I also have large pots for the other veggies to

plant too! I think I am going to get several more large pots for the squash we want

to try to grow too! We found out that we can do 2 growing cycles here!

So I can reseed and have a bumper crop before the Winter! I am excited about

trying to do that! I hope I get back early enough today to work on another card for

another Challenge or two…if not…please understand why I have been MIA for a couple

of days…It is hard not to get bitten by the ‘Spring Bug’! What I planted also

is strong to survive a frost, should one appear before mid April! I also have

covering for the ‘trough’!

Until the next Post…Blessings and happy planting to you ALL!

MIA for Intermittent Gardening!

Hello Everyone!

Just a quick note…I have been very busy since the ride to get plants for the Garden Club!

Mr. Hubster and I got bit by the ‘Spring Bug’ and were ‘sick’ with business of getting

our deck ready for planting our vegetables for our salads and side dishes for dinners!

We had to put together a trough like bench for the deck…it is 5′ long. 30″ wide, and 32″

high! It was a big Comedy of Errors bringing that big boy to the deck from my car!

All that could go awry did and Mr. Hubster and I laughed a good one!

I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time!

We persevered and got it built…then I had to run out and get the

potting mix/soils for the ‘trough’ (that is what I will lovingly call it) and for

all the rest of my pots and get them all ready for planting! I need to go out

and buy a couple more large pots for squash plants…all container gardening

for me!  The bending over for ‘ground gardening’,  I can’t do anymore, so to be

able to continue gardening from a container height, sounds better to me already!

Hope all is well with you ALL! I may be MIA now and then until all is settled and

I can get established in a rhythm again…

Until the next Post…Blessings and ‘Container Prepping’ to you ALL!

Plant Sale Road Trip!

Hello Everyone!

Thanks for peeking in today…No Card today…so sorry.

I had the ‘errands’ run yesterday and had to get the Grand-Girls packages for Easter out in the mail! I also went to drop some food at the food bank and they were throwing out some spaghetti squash that had ‘fallen off’ the delivery truck (about 5 or 6) and I was helping the girl pick up papers flying around her parking lot, when I realized she also picked up some of the squash and threw it in the dumpster! I asked if I could take the 2 left on the ground and she said, ok. I couldn’t let them go to waste…so when I came home I cleaned them, baked them, pulled out the strands and then roasted them in the oven. After they were cool, I put them in Ziploc Freezer bags and put in the freezer for future use…it was a bit of work, but I had just 2 days prior, spent a whole day roasting all my squashes, beans, and asparagus…now all I do is grab what I need and put them to heat up in the microwave. I did the Whole30 diet (look it up on the internet!) and I have adopted a lot of the restrictions and am eating way more healthier and feeling much better than I had been this past couple of years…I do have more energy and getting a lot more done during the day (that should have been done, before!).

Today is also a wash on making cards…I am typing this late and because I got up earlier than usual, I will tackle the card Challenges tomorrow…I had to go with members of our Garden Club up to Greenville (1 hr. away) to go and buy plants for out Plant Sale in 3 weeks. Friday, I will be helping to re-pot them all and Saturday, we are going back up to one of the places to get more plants, that weren’t ready today, but will be Saturday!

Then Sunday is Easter Sunday, I am going to try out a church here…praying it may be a place to call home! I miss the fellowship! I was blessed to have a great lady riding with me today that answered many questions I had about this particular church…it sounds like a church family I would like to be with to worship and fellowship together!

So it looks as if tomorrow will be the day to make the 4 cards for the next four Postings and sharing with you ALL! I do love it! I hope you do too!

Until the next Post…Blessings and Spring planting fun for you ALL!

Are you as excited as I am about getting your hands dirty? I can’t wait!!!!

Here is my Card!

I loved the Woodgrain look behind the blue coffee pot in the picture.

I added the embossed layer to mimic the Woodgrain!

The darker blue in the mat was to mimic the coffee pot!

And of course, those Daffodils!

Here is the inside of my Card!

I kept the inside fairly simple, but I just had to bring those Daffodils inside!

Here is the stamped to match envelope with my Card!

I like how this Card makes me Happy!

After the Winter those in the North have had…I would smile to see the

Daffodils finally poke out and color the blah of Winter!

Sad to say…mine came up about a month ago and all I got were 3!

I did cut them and put in a vase at my kitchen sink to enjoy!

Then we got all the cool weather and rain that turned into all the

storms the North got hit with…I do have to say…I can’t wait for

it to finally warm up here too!

Until the next Post…Blessings and Daffodil sprouting to you ALL!

Best Wishes for FMS329

Hello Everyone!

Thank You for peeking in for Today’s Card!

As you all know, I hold a Class the first Wednesday of the Month

at the Activity Center, where I live…our next meeting is April 4th.

We will be doing the ‘bleach’ technique!

In setting up the materials for this project, I realized my Cards (Yes there are 2!)

were perfect for this Sketch Challenge for

Freshly Made Sketches #329

Here is the Challenge!

FMS 329

Here are the Cards, my takes on the Sketch Challenge!

The First Card!

I kept this real simple! I used Tangerine Tango for the Butterfly and

using my Aqua Painter, filled with bleach, I brushed over the wings, except

for the centers of the 4 wings! It faded it to a yellow tinge, so I used

Daffodil Delight for the card base! The orange wasn’t too predominant,

I used the Calypso Coral Shimmer Ribbon to accent what

orange was left on the Butterfly!

Here is the inside!

Clean and Simple and plenty of space for a personal note!

I had to stamp an envelope to match!

So Cute!

Card # 2

I used Pear Pizzazz for a Card base for this card! After the bleaching,

the butterfly was blue and greenish! I started with Pacific Point for the

blue butterfly…the bleaching seemed to turn it a yellowish-green!

That is why I went with the Pear Pizzazz…I tried Lemon Lime Twist, nope!

Here is the inside, same as Card #1

Lots of space for that personal note!

And, I did stamp an envelope to match!

The envelope’s aren’t going to be included to the class,

they are for my personal use after the class is finished!

I had to have samples to show the Ladies the results!

Here is the list of Stock and Measures:

Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, card bases

– both 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ score @ 4 1/4″ fold in half on the score

Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point, to stamp and heat emboss butterfly’s onto 4″ X 4″

-after heat embossing, then bleaching, after dry, trim the butterfly’s out

Whisper White-inside panel, 4″ X 5 1/4″

Stamp Sets:

Petal Palette-greeting

Beautiful Day-butterfly, inside sentiment

Garden In Bloom-butterfly on envelope

Classic Stampin’ Ink Pads:

Calypso Coral-envelope butterfly outline

So Saffron-envelope butterfly filler color

Pacific Point-envelope butterfly outline

Pear Pizzazz-envelope butterfly filler color

Other Stamp Pads:

Memento Tuxedo Black Stamp Pad-greeting, inside sentiment

VersaMark Watermark Stamp Pad-stamping for pre-heat embossing

Heat Tool-for heat embossing

Aqua Painter-filled with bleach for brushing over cardstock

White Stampin’ Emboss Powder-for heat embossing

Calypso Coral Shimmer Ribbon-one of the SAB freebies!

Bermuda Bay Shimmer Ribbon-one of the SAB freebies! The ribbons are in a 3 pack!

(Smoky Slate Shimmer Ribbon is also included in the 3 pack!)

The Bleaching Technique

Select a mid to dark cardstock color.

Stamp a large open image in VersaMark.

Sprinkle with Stampin’ Embossing Powder

Heat Emboss to set the image. Let cool.

Using an Aqua Painter filled with bleach,

brush gently over the areas you want to ‘bleach out’.

Go slow and do complete coverage of those areas!

Let dry completely (you can use the Heat Tool to speed up drying!)

Fussy-cut the ‘bleached’ image out and attach to your card base of choice!

Here are my Cards, again!

I do like how these turned out…I used the ‘non-splash’ bleach.

I need to find out if ‘plain’ bleach works the same way!

So what do you think?

I have to say, the bleach smell isn’t bad at all…I was pleasantly surprised by that!

Is there a difference in bleaches?

I don’t know, I haven’t tried…Have any of you?

Let me know how, or if there is a difference in what bleach you use!

Until the next Post…Blessings and FUN techniques to you ALL!
